Michael Robinson
Michael Robinson, affectionately known as M.R. to his fans, is a Saint Lucian R&B fusion singer, songwriter, and musician. Hailing from a family of musicians, his unwavering dedication to his craft has earned him immense respect. Celebrated for his unique vocal prowess, innovative songwriting, captivating stage presence, stylish flair, strong work ethic, and warm demeanor, he stands out as one of Saint Lucia’s premier musical talents.
Michael’s musical journey began in 2010 with a series of singles that showcased his impressive vocal range and versatility across genres such as R&B, Pop, Hip Hop, Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Zouk, Kompa, and Afrobeats. These early efforts paved the way for his 11-track debut album, Shades (2017), which explores everyday life and cemented his reputation both locally and internationally.
In 2018, as his popularity soared, Michael became a brand ambassador for Flow Saint Lucia while continuing to release new singles. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he pressed on, delivering a string of uplifting singles during a difficult time. Among these were the Afrobeat-Dancehall love song “Give It To Me,” featuring Nigerian artist Tarela, and the catchy “Let Me Know,” both of which enjoyed widespread airplay throughout the Caribbean, the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Europe.
In 2023, he unveiled his sophomore album, Questions, a 9-track project that further showcased his genre-blending versatility. The album features compelling visuals for its title track, “Questions,” and for another standout song, “Sweet Addiction.” That same year, Michael headlined the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival, sharing the stage with internationally acclaimed African artists such as Ayra Starr, CKay, Rema, and Kizz Daniel—a testament to his status as a leading musical figure from Saint Lucia.
March 2024 saw the release of his electrifying and provocative single “Honesty,” a dynamic fusion of Afrobeats and Amapiano, complete with a music video that resonated deeply with fans. Later that year, he reached another milestone by earning a nomination for Artist of the Year (French Caribbean) at the 2024 Caribbean Music Awards in New York.
In February 2025, Michael was honored with the Nina Simone Artistic Excellence Award in R&B Fusion, Caribbean, and Soul music in New York. He also received a certificate of Congressional recognition from Congresswoman Yvette Clark and a New York Legislative resolution from State Senator Kevin S. Parker.
Currently, Michael Robinson is back in the studio, working on new projects that include collaborations with renowned international artists and producers. His enduring passion lies in creating music that inspires and connects with people. As he often says, “I’m just human—someone who feels what others feel and can relate to their moments of joy and sorrow.” This rising star is only getting started.
